Large-scale Data Management and Mining for a Regional Web Portal

Introduction

The project involves management of large-scale data in a MS SQL server environment and data mining for various on-demand reports.

Situation/ Problem

The client with online retail sales offerings accumulated a huge user and sales information during the past several years. The company wanted to use the demographic data along with sales data to decide on new offerings. The task was challenging due to the high-volume of data gathered.

Solution

1. We have used MS SQL Server 2005 and OBAs (Office Business Applications) for data integration, analysis and reporting.

2. We have also done dimensional modelling in the Business Intelligence (BI) environment.

Result

The client was able to create on-demand reports easily. This expedited their decision-making and enhanced sales.
