Batoi Press 3.0.0 is available, bringing together flexible post publishing, configurable light and dark appearance, footer controls, and administrator-reviewed automation in a database-free CMS.
For teams running a company website, newsroom, documentation site, or project microsite, the release offers more control over how content is organized and presented. Batoi Press remains open source under the MIT license and runs on standard PHP hosting without a database.
Version 3.0.0 includes the recent publishing and appearance improvements outlined below, alongside its new account-bound connections and review workflow for API and MCP changes. The package includes the Batoi Versatile 3.2.0 theme.
Choose what readers see in Blog posts blocks
The Blog posts block in the page editor lets you show or hide featured images, publication dates, and Read more links with arrow icons. Configure each block to suit its purpose: a visual news section can include images and dates, while a compact list of updates can keep the presentation simpler.
These controls apply to the individual post block, so different pages can present posts differently without changing the underlying articles.
Where to configure: edit the page and select its Blog posts content block. These switches do not change every post archive globally.
Publish under routes that match your content
Posts are no longer limited to the /blog prefix. Choose a post type such as News or Activities, or another supported custom type, to give that collection its own archive and article URLs. For example, a News collection uses /news for its archive and /news/article-slug for an article.
Existing posts keep their /blog URLs unless their type is changed. Type prefixes must avoid reserved routes and existing page or public-file paths; parent and child posts must share a type. When changing a published post's type, review the links that point to its previous URL.
Load more posts without leaving the archive
Set the number of posts per page and enable the optional Load More control for post archives in the default theme. Readers can reveal the next set of posts within the current page instead of navigating away.
Ordinary Previous and Next navigation remains available when JavaScript is unavailable or a loading request fails. Static exports include complete post-type archives rather than relying on dynamic loading.
Control theme modes, the visitor switch, and logos
Choose a light appearance, a dark appearance, or a mode that follows the visitor's device preference. Settings also let you show or hide the visitor-facing light/dark switch and configure an alternate logo for dark backgrounds.
With Batoi Versatile, these options help keep site identity readable across both modes while giving administrators control over whether visitors can switch between them.
Where to configure: use Settings > Appearance for color mode and visitor-switch visibility, and Settings > Branding for logos.
Customize global colors for light and dark modes
The appearance settings provide separate light and dark palettes for the default theme. Configure body, header, and footer backgrounds; header and body text; link hover colors; and primary and secondary button colors and their hover states.
These validated color controls update the theme's shared styles, making it easier to apply a consistent palette across the site. Review both modes for readable contrast after making changes. Custom themes need to support the same appearance settings to use these controls.
The palette fields configure supported theme colors; they are not an unrestricted CSS editor. Use the light and dark theme color groups in Settings > Appearance.
Shape the footer around your website
Customize the top and bottom footer grids, the main footer text, and the bottom footer content. Each grid supports one to four columns, with mobile layouts stacking the content. Footer menu groups and labeled icon links provide space for navigation, contact destinations, and other useful links.
This gives site administrators a practical way to maintain footer structure and copy through settings and menus. Learn more about the bundled theme on the Batoi Versatile page on Batoi Exchange.
Keep automated publishing under review
Version 3.0.0 also changes how connected tools make public-facing changes. API and MCP connections are tied to eligible local accounts and their current permissions. Machine-requested publication and public-impact edits create proposals for review in Press before they take effect.
Administrators can inspect the proposed changes and approve them with the required password or MFA verification. Existing integrations must handle pending proposals and confirm that a change has been applied before reporting it as published. Review legacy credentials in Connections and replace them with account-bound credentials as part of an upgrade.
Download and upgrade
Download Batoi Press 3.0.0 and review the release notes. PHP 8.1 or newer is required. For an existing installation, back up the complete site, test the upgrade on a non-production copy, and stage and apply the signed package through Admin Updates. Do not extract the fresh-install archive over an existing site.
The Batoi Press documentation covers installation, publishing, appearance, and administration. Start with the upgrade guide when moving from an earlier release.
